I first tried drunken chicken in Din Tai Fung in Sydney, they serve it as an appetizer there. I got the chicken, added some rice and then some steamed pork dumplings. Ended up being about $40 which is a bit too expensive for a quick “eat at my desk” lunch.
So using the recipe from here, I made a version of drunken chicken using drumsticks at home. Surprisingly easy to make. I used this cheap wine that I got from an Asian grocery store for $3. From reading around, it seems like people tend to use nicer wine, but it worked just fine.
